A new milestone in the development of electric charging for heavy-duty transport

ENGIE Vianeo has reached a major milestone in its European expansion with the commissioning
of its first charging points for heavy-duty vehicles in Germany on August 4. Located at the Port of
Kiel, one of the main ports on the Baltic Sea, the new site marks the launch of the ENGIE Vianeo
heavy-duty charging network on the German market.

This opening reflects ENGIE Vianeo’s commitment to supporting the electrification of road freight
transport by providing infrastructure tailored to the specific needs of transport operators and
electric truck drivers.

A strategic charging hub at the Port of Kiel

Located in Ostuferhafen at the Port of Kiel, the new charging hub features eight public fastcharging
points dedicated to electric trucks.

The charging stations provide up to 400 kW of power, enabling transport operators to reduce
downtime while optimizing their operations. Available 24/7, the site has been designed to meet
the requirements of heavy-duty transport and facilitate the use of charging infrastructure.

The facilities include:

  • 8 public fast-charging points;
  • charging capacity of up to 400 kW;
  • 24/7 access;
  • a setup allowing charging without unhitching the trailer;
  • sanitary facilities available for drivers.

The beginning of the ENGIE Vianeo network in Germany

The opening of the Kiel station represents the first step in the development of the ENGIE Vianeo
network in Germany. This new site is integrated into the company’s existing European
infrastructure and helps strengthen charging corridors dedicated to heavy commercial vehicles.

Thanks to its strategic location on logistics routes connecting Germany with the Nordic countries
and the rest of Europe, the Port of Kiel is ideally positioned to support the energy transition of the
freight transport sector.

By connecting the German market to its European charging network, ENGIE Vianeo aims to
facilitate long-distance electric truck journeys and support the adoption of more sustainable
transport solutions.

A project driven by close collaboration

The commissioning of this first station is the result of several months of planning, coordination
and implementation carried out by ENGIE Vianeo teams in partnership with the Port of Kiel.

With the opening of this first charging hub in Germany, ENGIE Vianeo continues the deployment
of its heavy-duty charging infrastructure and confirms its ambition to actively contribute to the
electrification of freight transport across Europe.
