ENGIE continues to strengthen its position in the European electric mobility market. Through its dedicated brand ENGIE Vianeo, the Group is reaching a new strategic milestone in Belgium by becoming one of the country’s leading public charging operators, with a large-scale rollout plan in Wallonia and an ambitious European target by 2030.
ENGIE Vianeo, a leading player in electric vehicle charging in Belgium
Following its success in securing the contract for the Brussels-Capital Region last March, ENGIE Vianeo has now been selected by the Walloon authorities to deploy 2,926 charging points, representing 1,625 charging stations, across the entire Walloon territory.
This new achievement confirms ENGIE Vianeo’s strong growth momentum in Europe and strengthens its position as a key reference player in public charging infrastructure in Belgium, supporting the energy transition and low-carbon mobility.
An unprecedented territorial charging network in Wallonia
The Walloon project includes the installation of 22 kW charging stations, evenly distributed across the region:
- city centres,
- village squares,
- sports facilities,
- and other high-traffic public locations.
In total, 242 municipalities, covering almost the entire Walloon region, will be equipped. ENGIE Vianeo will operate the network for 10 years, ensuring a reliable, accessible and high-performance service for users.
ENGIE Vianeo, leader in electric mobility in Belgium
With this new contract in Wallonia, following the Brussels deployment (1,640 charging points), ENGIE Vianeo further consolidates its position as a leader in electric mobility in Belgium.
Already active in Brussels and Flanders, ENGIE Vianeo currently operates the largest charging network in the country, with nearly 7,000 charging points. The Group aims to reach 12,000 charging points by 2028 across Belgium.
25,000 charging points across Europe by 2030
Beyond Belgium, ENGIE Vianeo has set ambitious goals at the European level. The Group aims to rank among the top five public electric vehicle charging operators in Europe by 2030, with a target of 25,000 charging points, including 1,000 dedicated to heavy-duty vehicles.
ENGIE Vianeo already relies on a strong network of nearly 11,000 charging points in operation in France and Belgium, with further deployments underway in Germany, as well as a pioneering position in electric charging solutions for heavy-duty transport.
