ENGIE Vianeo is taking a new key step in the development of electric mobility in Belgium. The ENGIE Group brand specializing in charging infrastructure has been selected by the Brussels-Capital Region to install and operate 835 public charging stations, representing 1,640 charging points, deployed across the entire Brussels territory.

This new strategic contract confirms ENGIE Vianeo’s growth momentum in Belgium and its central role in supporting regions in their transition toward more sustainable mobility.
A structuring rollout across Brussels’ 19 municipalities
ENGIE Vianeo will deploy all charging stations across the 19 municipalities of the Brussels-Capital Region. The objective is to offer an accessible, consistent charging network tailored to everyday urban uses. The locations of the charging stations were defined in close collaboration with the Vrije Universiteit Brussel (VUB) and Brussels Environment, ensuring placement as close as possible to the real needs of e-mobility users and their travel habits. This usage-based analytical approach guarantees balanced coverage across the entire regional territory.
The charging points will deliver power ranging from 7.4 kW to 11 kW, particularly well suited to residential and neighborhood charging in urban environments. They will enable users to charge easily and with peace of mind, using green electricity.
A pivotal milestone for electric mobility in Brussels
This project marks a key milestone in the development of public charging infrastructure in Brussels, where demand continues to rise alongside the rapid growth of electric vehicles.
Laurent De Vroey, Managing Director Belgium at ENGIE Vianeo:
« We are extremely proud of the trust placed in ENGIE Vianeo for the deployment of charging infrastructure in the Brussels-Capital Region. This new large-scale project illustrates our commitment to supporting Belgian cities and municipalities in their transition toward accessible, reliable, and sustainable electric mobility, for the benefit of all »
Confirmed growth momentum in Belgium
This success in Brussels is part of a broader context of rapid acceleration of the ENGIE Vianeo network in Belgium. Earlier this month, the brand inaugurated new charging stations in Wallonia, while in 2022 it had already secured the largest concession contract in Flanders, covering 7,000 charging points.
Through these structuring projects, ENGIE Vianeo strengthens its presence across the entire Belgian territory and leverages its in-depth knowledge of Flemish, Brussels, and Walloon local specificities, with the ambition of harmonizing the national charging infrastructure network.
ENGIE Vianeo accelerates its European ambitions
With this new contract, ENGIE Vianeo continues its growth trajectory at the European level and reaffirms its ambition to rank among the top five public charging operators for light and heavy vehicles by 2030.
The Group targets 25,000 charging points across Europe, including 1,000 dedicated to heavy-duty vehicles, to sustainably support the electrification of mobility and the decarbonization of transport.
Nicolas Cournu, Managing Director Europe at ENGIE Vianeo:
« ENGIE Vianeo contributes to the momentum of large-scale deployment of charging infrastructure across the entire Belgian territory by putting its expertise at the service of a viable network for users. This project perfectly illustrates our determination to support major European metropolitan areas as well as regions in their transition toward fully decarbonized mobility. »
