Public EV Charging in Wallonia: ENGIE Vianeo Launches the Network with a First Inauguration in Namur

Updated

The deployment of the first large-scale public charging network in Wallonia is now underway. On July 1, 2026, ENGIE Vianeo inaugurated its first charging stations in Namur, marking a key milestone in the development of electric mobility across the region.

A First Installation in the Heart of Namur

Located on Rue Rempart de la Vierge, close to the train station, universities and Louise Marie Park, two charging stations have been commissioned, providing four charging points with a power output of 22 kW.

These facilities allow residents, workers and visitors to conveniently charge their electric vehicles on a daily basis in a strategic and highly frequented area.

Ultimately, ENGIE Vianeo will operate 25 charging stations in Namur, representing 50 charging points across key locations throughout the city, including the sports center, swimming pool, citadel and major public squares.

A Landmark Project for the Whole of Wallonia

This inauguration is the first visible step of a project with regional ambitions. ENGIE Vianeo has secured Wallonia’s first electric vehicle charging concession, with the ambitious goal of deploying 3,165 public charging points by May 2028.

The network will cover 242 municipalities, providing a local charging solution tailored to everyday needs, whether at home, at work or during urban journeys.

By prioritizing 22 kW charging stations, ENGIE Vianeo is addressing users’ real-world needs by making charging simple, practical and accessible across the region.

Namur, a Showcase for Wallonia’s Future Charging Network

With this launch, Namur becomes the first concrete example of Wallonia’s future charging infrastructure. The objective is clear: bring charging closer to everyday destinations in order to accelerate the adoption of electric vehicles and support the energy transition.

Belgium, a Key Market for ENGIE Vianeo in Europe

The Wallonia deployment complements projects already underway in Flanders and Brussels. At a national level, ENGIE Vianeo plans to reach nearly 12,000 charging points in Belgium within the next two years.

Belgium is therefore becoming a cornerstone of the company’s European strategy, which aims to reach 25,000 charging points across Europe by 2030.

This position confirms ENGIE Vianeo’s ambition to become a major player in public charging by offering a reliable, accessible network designed for all charging needs.

Accelerating the Transition to More Sustainable Mobility

With this landmark project, ENGIE Vianeo is taking a new step forward in its mission to make electric mobility simple, accessible and practical for everyone.

Each new charging point contributes to the development of a local network, which is essential for removing barriers to electric mobility and supporting the decarbonization of transport and everyday mobility.
